Lecture by PhD Goran Zlodi“From Museum Documentation to Communication in the Digital Environment – Standards, Practice and Perspectives” at the House of the Kings Guard
The lecture by PhD Goran Zlodi, titled “From Museum Documentation to Communication in the Digital Environment – Standards, Practice and Perspectives,” will take place on Wednesday, October 1, at 1:00 p.m. at the House of The Kings Guard.
The talk will focus on the role of new technologies in contemporary museums, emphasizing that the key challenge is not their use in itself, but the way in which we apply them.
Through an analysis of international standards and semantic technologies, Prof. Zlodi will demonstrate how the digitization of collections and the development of interoperable systems enable museum holdings to be included in global flows of knowledge.
Special attention will be given to the responsible and ethical use of multimedia, interactive applications, augmented and virtual reality—tools that must be created through collaboration between museologists, curators, educators, and IT specialists, and tailored to different user groups and their needs.
The lecture will also address the risks of non-transparent algorithms and potential data manipulation, highlighting the museum’s role as a reliable and credible source of knowledge in an era flooded with artificially generated content.
Digital transformation will be presented as a fundamental change in how museums operate and communicate, where technology must remain a good servant rather than a master, serving the preservation and presentation of cultural and natural heritage.
The lecture is intended for museologists, researchers, and students. Admission is free!
