Promotion of the Visual Essay by Nevena Martinović and Anastasija Timoshenko Held Last Night at the House of the King’s Guard
Last night, the promotion of the visual essay “A Glass of Gall / A Glass of Honey” by authors Nevena Martinović and Anastasija Timoshenko was held at the House of the King’s Guard, organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro.
This event also marked the first presentation of the publication to the Montenegrin public. The book, conceived as a visual essay, explores the aesthetics and socio-cultural aspects of Eastern European countries (excluding Russia), challenging stereotypes through a strong visual identity and a self-ironic narrative.
The evening was moderated by art historian Nela Gligorović, who, in conversation with Nevena Martinović, guided the audience through the creation of the book, the publishing process, and the distinct visual language the authors use to address questions of identity, history, and everyday life in the post-communist East.
Following presentations in Milan, Kyiv, Rome, and Sicily, “A Glass of Gall / A Glass of Honey” was successfully introduced to the Montenegrin audience, drawing together those interested in contemporary art, independent publishing, and critical reflections on regional narratives.
