The Collection of Drawings, Prints, and Watercolors of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro (MCAM) showcases works by prominent artists from both the Montenegrin and international scenes, offering the public insight into diverse artistic expressions and techniques. The collection includes works originally part of the former Center for Contemporary Art, accumulated from 1995 to 2022, and later enriched with new acquisitions. This collection features representative works created in various drawing, printmaking, and watercolor techniques, illustrating the evolution of artistic expressions from the 20th century to the present day—from classical approaches and realistic interpretations to experimental postmodern expressions and avant-garde trends that explore contemporary artistic tendencies.The development of the Collection of Drawings, Prints, and Watercolors focuses on preserving and presenting works that push the boundaries of artistic creation and reflect social and cultural changes. Since the Museum’s establishment as an independent space for reflecting on art and social responsibility, this collection has been strategically expanded through the acquisition and purchase of works that meet high artistic standards.
Currently, the collection comprises 85 works, serving as a significant resource for studying the development of graphic expression and techniques in drawing and watercolor across various artistic eras. As such, it is a valuable resource for researchers and audiences interested in the evolution of modern and contemporary art.
