The exhibition “National Space Program” by the Ilustress collective will open at the Gallery of the Museum of Contemporary Art on Friday, October 27.

The Ilustress collective, composed of young artists Ivana Vujošević, Radovan Vukasović, Srđa Dragović, Sara Kovačević, Denis Ćupić, and Jovana Mugoša, brings their unique perspective to the art scene. “National Space Program” is a collection of works that explore various artistic disciplines, including illustration, graphics, drawings, and texts. This exhibition marks Ilustress’s first presentation in Montenegro, following a successful premiere in Belgrade.

The exhibition is unique in its approach to creation. The collective does not follow a traditional narrative form but uses a story structure composed of different segments, similar to the Exquisite Corpse method. Visitors are invited to piece together the whole from these fragments or engage in deeper analyses, creating new points of intersection.

This creative approach allows the artists to explore different styles of expression, including conventional illustration, comics, caricature, and experimental graphics, as well as multimedia like video and animation.

In addition to the exhibition, the Ilustress collective presents their eponymous book/zine, which is the collective’s third edition in the past three and a half years of existence.

At the opening of the exhibition, curator Teodora Nikčević and artist Srđa Dragović will speak.
