MORE THAN 14,000 VISITORS TO THE MONTENEGRO PAVILION DURING THE FIRST TWO MONTHS OF THE VENICE BIENNALE: Siniša Radulović’s Project Among the Standout National Presentations at the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia
During the first two months of the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, the Montenegro Pavilion welcomed more than 14,000 visitors, reflecting the strong interest of the international public in Montenegro’s contemporary artistic production.
Montenegro is represented at this year’s Biennale by the artistic team of artist Siniša Radulović and curator Svetlana Racanović with the project Out of the Blue, I’m Swept Away. Through a complex site-specific multimedia installation, the project explores themes of collective memory, identity, social transformation, and the relationship between the individual and contemporary political and cultural processes, establishing a compelling dialogue with today’s global social and artistic context.
Montenegro’s participation has already achieved significant international visibility during the opening months of the Biennale. The project has been featured in publications and guides by leading international contemporary art platforms, including ArtReview, My Art Guides, ArtDaily, and ArtRabbit, all of which regularly highlight noteworthy national pavilions and key exhibitions of the Venice Biennale.
The Montenegro Pavilion is located at ArteNova, Campo San Lorenzo, Castello 5063, Venice, where it will remain open to visitors until 22 November 2026, the closing date of this year’s edition of the world’s most prestigious international exhibition of contemporary art.
The Commissioner of the Montenegro Pavilion is Dr Vladislav Šćepanović, Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro (MCAM), who also leads Montenegro’s official participation in the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. The national presentation is organised and produced by the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro (MCAM), with the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro serving as the General Patron of Montenegro’s participation.
Receiving more than 14,000 visitors during the first two months of the Biennale is a strong indicator of the Montenegro Pavilion’s international visibility and underscores the importance of sustained institutional investment in promoting Montenegrin contemporary art on the world’s most prestigious cultural stage. Participation in the Venice Biennale represents one of the country’s most significant platforms for cultural diplomacy, international cooperation, and the promotion of Montenegrin artists, enabling their work to reach an international audience and engage with leading figures of the global contemporary art community.
As the institution responsible for organising and producing Montenegro’s national participation, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro (MCAM) continues to strengthen the international profile of Montenegrin contemporary art through its presence at the Venice Biennale, fostering new partnerships, professional collaborations, and contributing to the country’s growing recognition within the global contemporary art landscape.
