Vladan Radovanović

Last night, the exhibition “Ahead of Time and Beyond” by one of the most significant creators of the Yugoslav and European avant-garde, Vladan Radovanović, was officially opened at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro. A large audience had the opportunity to explore the rich and innovative body of work of this exceptional artist through a multimedia presentation.

Over seven decades of continuous work, Radovanović created pieces that connect music, poetry, visual forms, new media, and technology, developing his own concepts such as vokovizuel, taktizon, projectism, and synesthetic art. The exhibition at the MSUCG Gallery features around 50 works – from sound compositions and drawings to performance records and multimedia projects – carefully selected to showcase the breadth and internal coherence of his creative output.

Curator Teodora Nikčević emphasized that “each new presentation of his works, such as this exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro, not only introduces the domestic audience to his oeuvre but also reveals his connection with parallel practices of international artists and relevant artistic currents, confirming how ahead of his time he truly was.”

Curator Saša Janjić added: “Vladan Radovanović left behind an enormous corpus of artistic and theoretical works – one of the most intriguing and authentic bodies of work, not only in Serbian but also global modern art. This exhibition is an opportunity to remember his exceptional contribution and to reflect on his intellectual and spiritual legacy.”

The exhibition invites visitors to experience the work of this unique artist as a whole through multimedia elements, sound installations, and archival materials, and to learn about the pioneering achievements of avant-garde art that also emerged in our cultural space.

The exhibition is open to visitors until October 11, 2025.
