The Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro at the 20th Jubilee International Podgorica Book Fair
At the invitation and under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Media, the Public Institution Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro is participating in the 20th Jubilee International Podgorica Book Fair, taking place from May 11 to 17, 2025, in the garage of the BIG Fashion Shopping Center in Podgorica.
By taking part in this important cultural event, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro presents its rich publishing output, developed through years of exhibition and research activities in the field of contemporary art. Through numerous projects realized both in Montenegro and abroad, the Museum has hosted prominent names from the contemporary art scene, with each exhibition accompanied by a publication in the form of a monograph or catalogue.
Visitors to the fair have the opportunity to explore publications accompanying exhibitions of renowned international artists, including Erró, the Icelandic artist known for applying pop-art poetics in the analysis of political, social, and cultural phenomena; Kiki Smith, one of the most significant contemporary American artists, whose work explores themes of the body, nature, spirituality, and human existence; Sam Durant, an American artist whose oeuvre addresses the legacy of the Non-Aligned Movement and its contemporary implications; as well as Odile Decq, the French architect and artist, Yoko Ono, and many other internationally recognized artists.
Alongside international authors, the Museum is also presenting publications related to exhibitions by Montenegrin artists, including Ilija Burić, Radovan Grujić, Naod Zorić, Ivana Radovanović, Tijana Gordić, Katarina Tomašević Crawford, and others.
A special place is dedicated to the long-standing project “Montenegro Today,” through which documentation on Montenegrin artists has been collected and systematized, while their artistic expression has been presented through numerous exhibitions and publications.
The fair also features the first issue of the magazine Art Diversion, a publication launched with the aim of presenting the Museum’s activities and creating space for critical reflection on contemporary art and its relationship with society. The magazine promotes dialogue between the local and international art scenes, recognizing art as a space of free imagination, intellectual resistance, and creative re-examination of contemporary social currents.
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro is also responsible for coordinating projects related to Montenegro’s participation at the Venice Biennale, including the publication of accompanying catalogues and publications.
