Join us for the launch of the catalogue accompanying the exhibition Repurposing: Space and Word by artist Irena Lagator Pejović, taking place on 18 June at 7 PM, followed by a visit to Kana’s Complex in the park forest and spring area of Zagorič (Nikola Tesla Street, approaching from Zlatica, turn right before the railway tracks).
Drawing on the legacy of Svetlana Kana Radević and the gallery space itself, the exhibition raises questions about our relationship with the environment, architecture, community, and the transformations that shape space over time.
The work Find and Manage All Your Projects on Google Earth, presented within the exhibition Repurposing: Space and Word, consists of two enlarged screenshots created during the artist’s navigation of the Google Earth application. The wider satellite view depicts the suburban neighbourhood of Zagorič, while the closer view reveals the outlines of Svetlana Kana Radević’s architectural complex, developed in the 1960s in collaboration with the Podgorica Water Supply and Sewerage Company. Photographic documentation showing altered colour tones beneath panels of brown glass records the current condition of the complex within the park.
The title of the work is a direct quotation from the Google Earth interface—a corporate language of a digital platform applied to a site that may be considered cultural heritage. A paradox emerges: Kana’s Complex, invisible to heritage protection institutions, remains visible only through the satellite eye of a private corporation. This invisibility is not accidental; it is produced.
An important segment of the exhibition is the initiative to secure cultural heritage status for the architectural complex designed by Svetlana Kana Radević in the Zagorič park forest, Podgorica.
The exhibition will remain open to visitors until 21 June 2026.
