Exhibition "Eye of consciousness" by Radovan Grujić opened at The House of the King's Guard

Last night, the exhibition Eye of Consciousness by Montenegrin artist Radovan Grujić was officially opened at The House of The King’s Guard, produced by the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro. This unique display offers the audience an opportunity to experience the artistic space not only as an exhibition but also as an ambient studio—a place where the artist’s works and the process of their creation come together.

The exhibition was opened by museum advisor Marina Čelebić, who emphasized that it is not conventionally conceived but envisioned as a dynamic, functional workshop.

“Beyond showcasing the artist’s diverse creative work, I aimed to convey the atmosphere in which the artist creates—his intimate experience and the very process of artistic work,” said Čelebić.

Radovan Grujić is an artist with a distinctive sensibility and expression, and his oeuvre includes various techniques and formats—from figurative drawings with strong contour lines and intensely colorful paintings to installations made from found and discarded objects, which gain a new identity through the artistic process. He draws inspiration from landscapes, everyday scenes, and universal questions of human existence.

“Grujić is inspired by landscapes, daily occurrences, objects, and the vastness of the universe. As a creator with over three decades of experience, he emphasizes that his works are often the result of deep contemplation and resistance to social realities and contemporary developments in the cultural and artistic scene. At the core of all his works lies a message drawn from the depths of his being, making them distinguished by strong narrative elements, rich symbolism, and a recognizable artistic poetics,” added the curator.

A special feature of the exhibition is a notebook placed at the entrance, where visitors can write down their impressions and reflections, creating an interactive dialogue between the artist and the audience.

The Eye of Consciousness exhibition will be open until April 20, 2025.
