On the occasion of Museum Day, a literary evening dedicated to the work of renowned Montenegrin poet Boris Jovanović Kastel was held last night at the House of the King’s Guard in Kruševac.

Boris Jovanović Kastel, regarded by literary critics as the most prominent Montenegrin poet of Mediterranean orientation, presented to the audience fragments from his rich poetic oeuvre.

His poetry, infused with the Mediterranean spirit, has been translated into twenty world languages and included in numerous national and international anthologies. Kastel is the author of more than thirty books of poetry and essays, the recipient of numerous international awards, and his work has been the subject of two volumes of essays – Mediterranean Gentleman and The Consul and Jeweler of the Mediterranean.

A special tone of the evening was provided by the interpretation of verses performed by Teodora Đukanović, a final-year student of “Slobodan Škerović” High School.

Throughout the evening, the audience had the opportunity to feel the deep connection of Kastel’s verses with the Mediterranean, which the poet interprets in his poetics as a space of freedom, destiny, and spiritual identity.

The literary evening reaffirmed Boris Jovanović Kastel’s status as one of the most important contemporary poets of the region, whose voice resonates powerfully across the Mediterranean cultural space.
