The Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro reminds all interested parties that a public call for proposals to select the project representing Montenegro at the 61st Venice Art Biennale will be issued at the end of May of this year.

Again this year, an expert jury of international composition will decide on the best project, reaffirming our commitment to the highest standards of professionalism, transparency, and quality, as well as the importance of showcasing Montenegro at this prestigious global exhibition of contemporary art. Participation in the Venice Biennale provides an opportunity for visibility and recognition of the domestic art scene on an international stage.

We invite all interested artists, curators, and art collectives to prepare their project documentation in good time and to follow the official information channels of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro, where the public call will be published with all relevant details regarding requirements and deadlines.

For the first time, Montenegro will present itself at the 61st Biennale at a new national pavilion location—in the ArteNova gallery space, situated in the attractive Venetian setting of Campo San Lorenzo—thereby further strengthening our country’s presence at the heart of contemporary art currents.

The General Sponsor of Montenegro’s participation is the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro.

The theme of the upcoming Biennale will be announced in early May 2025 on the official Biennale di Venezia website.
