Opening of the Exhibition “Eye of Consciousness” by Radovan Grujić at the The House of The King’s Guard
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro announces the opening of the exhibition Eye of Consciousness by Montenegrin artist Radovan Grujić, which will take place on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 7 PM at the The House of The King’s Guard. The exhibition is curated by Marina Čelebić.
Radovan Grujić, an artist of distinctive sensibility and expression, explores complex existential, philosophical, and social themes through drawings, paintings, and installations. His work is characterized by strong narrative elements, rich symbolism, and a recognizable artistic poetics.
The exhibition Eye of Consciousness is conceived as an ambient studio—an intimate space where visitors are not only observers of the artworks but also gain insight into the creative process. By reconstructing the everyday environment in which the artist works, the exhibition reveals his sources of inspiration, his way of thinking, and his deep connection with the materials and themes he explores.
“I wanted to convey the impressions from my unique journey through the home, which is also the studio of Radovan Grujić, believing that this approach best reveals the truths perceived by the eye of his consciousness,” says Čelebić.
Grujić’s oeuvre includes works in various techniques and formats, from figurative drawings with strong contour lines and intensely colorful paintings to installations made from collected, discarded objects that acquire a new identity through artistic intervention.
Works such as Demon of War, Black Sun, Light of Consciousness, and Noah’s Ark, along with drawings inspired by historical and mythological figures, testify to the artist’s dedication to exploring the invisible connections between the past, the present, and universal truths.
The exhibition Eye of Consciousness offers a unique experience and interaction with an artistic space that evokes spontaneity, introspection, and the creative unrest characteristic of Grujić’s work.
Radovan Grujić was born in 1963 in Titograd. He completed the School of Fine Arts in Nikšić and graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje in 1994 (Painting Department), under the mentorship of Professor Smail Karailo.
