Presentation of the Exhibition Catalogue “Quintessence of Bone” by Artist Naod Zorić Held
The presentation of the catalogue accompanying the exhibition Quintessence of Bone by artist Naod Zorić was held at the Petrović Castle.
The event featured a conversation between the exhibition’s curator, Natalija Đuranović, and the artist, reflecting on the thematic framework of the exhibition, Zorić’s creative process, and his perspective on Montenegrin heritage through a contemporary artistic expression.
“The philosophy of my art is the Soul. It was breathed into me, mouth to mouth. It lives in my neck, and I know where it came from,” said Zorić, emphasizing that his creative impulse is deeply rooted in collective consciousness and ancestral heritage.
Speaking about the significance of light in his works, the artist noted: “The sun—I believe it is alive. The light of the sun protects us from darkness, gloom, and evil. Art without light becomes sheer darkness—utter gloom.”
A key segment of the discussion focused on the expressiveness of human figures in Zorić’s paintings.
“I am deeply impressed by Montenegrin people and their character. The ancient solitude and suffering of this rugged land have refined the spirit of its people. They are proud and dignified, humble only before God, aware of life’s transience,” said the artist.
Curator Natalija Đuranović highlighted the significance of Zorić’s work in the context of contemporary art: “His paintings are not only a reflection of individual expression but also a dialogue with heritage, with the time and space in which they are created. Through drawing and expressiveness, Zorić captures not just form but the very essence of the characters he portrays.”
The exhibition Quintessence of Bone, offering the audience a unique insight into Zorić’s artistic world, will remain open at the Petrović Castle until March 28, 2025.
