“SYMBIOTIC COLLECTION” – WORKSHOP ON PERFORMING ART IN PUBLIC SPACE WITH IRENA LAGATOR PEJOVIĆ AT MSUCG PARK
As part of the accompanying program of the exhibition “Montenegro Today,” and within the segment “The Landscape Watching Us,” MCAM is organizing a workshop on performing art in public space with artist Irena Lagator Pejović, titled “Symbiotic Collection.”
We invite all art enthusiasts to apply for the workshop, which will be held on July 18, 2024, at 7 PM in the MCAM park.
Artist Irena Lagator Pejović will discuss her work, “Symbiotic Collection,” performed along the museum park’s path. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in the performance in the public space and join a conversation with the artist and MSUCG curators about the connection between ecology, history, and the park, as well as public art.
The process-oriented work, “Symbiotic Collection,” emphasizes the taxonomy of the collection of art from non-aligned countries housed in MCAM and expands it by including the names of living organisms, trees, and plants from the park surrounding the institution. This radical gesture draws attention to the materiality of collected objects, conceptually and performatively linking them to the natural environment.
“The Symbiotic Collection” aims to collaboratively place and mark the names of plants from the park and objects from the mentioned collection on the concrete path.
The workshop will be led by museum educator Danijela Stjepčević Laušević.
The workshop is intended for ages 10 and up. Applications should be sent to pr@msucg.me no later than Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
