Last Night, the Literary Evening of Fantasy with Marijana Terić Held at Petrović Castle
Last night, at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro, in Petrović Castle, a Literary Evening of Fantasy featuring Marijana Terić was held.
During the event, the renowned author Marijana Terić, Montenegro’s first Doctor of Fantasy Literature, presented her latest work, Fantastika Montenegrina, along with the first Montenegrin journal dedicated to fantasy in literature and art, Athanatik. The journal gathers the most prominent fantasy authors from the Balkans as well as leading European theorists in the field.
In her presentation, Terić emphasized the significance of fantasy literature in Montenegro and highlighted the importance of reflecting on and studying works in this literary genre. She noted that fantasy holds the key to exploring the inner universe of humanity as a space for imagination, stating:
“Humanity did not create fantasy by gazing outward, but by looking inward.”
Speaking about Athanatik, Terić underlined that the journal enables interdisciplinary research on fantasy and opens doors to new worlds. She invited all artists to contribute their creations and announced a rich thematic lineup for the journal’s upcoming issue.
Prof. Dr. Budimir Aleksić praised the journal, describing it as a valuable cultural and artistic endeavor. He highlighted that Athanatik is the result of Terić’s enthusiasm, resourcefulness, and expertise, adding:
“This journal encompasses all forms of fantasy—both pure fantasy and science fiction. Its structure is diverse, bringing us the most significant works from local, regional, and global contributors in this genre” said Aleksić.
