Join us on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 12 PM at the MCAM Gallery for preparatory work leading up to the opening of the exhibition Workers’ Club – with the action of demolishing the gallery wall.
Does the exhibition begin with an official opening?
The exhibition Workers’ Club “Between Us” begins with the very act of its installation. This event is part of the exhibition process, emphasizing that time, space, and the conditions of display shape the artwork itself.
The architecture of the gallery space serves as the starting point. The glass windows, originally designed by Kane Radević to provide views of both the street and the garden, are not merely physical elements of the space but conceptual tools that inspire a re-examination of how art institutions can function.
The walls represent the ideology of the white cube and art as an autonomous social activity. They symbolize the boundaries of art institutions that need to be dismantled to construct a dialogical space with society.
By removing the wall, we reveal the view of a forgotten garden.
Workers’ Club is a project by Adrijana Gvozdenović and Nela Gligorović, curated by Teodora Nikčević.
